FONKO WINES GOLDEN MEDAL FOR MERLOT 2004
NEGOTINO 2007 - St Trifun Day

Donov

Smederevka 2006
In the glass came a bright shiny yellowish, greenish coloured wine. Almost transparent. Very bright. Sweet but powerful fragrant bouquet of ripe exotic white fruit. Some green grass, sweet apple, pear, melon and fresh baked baguette. The nose comes true on the palate with a velvety round taste of delicious green apple, pear and lychee. Clean, fresh and very pleasing.

Mystic 2005
Attractive brilliant purple colour.  Sensual fatty tears that slowly run of the glass. Still closed full fruit nose, dark griotto cherries, plums and liquorice red currant with a touch of white pepper. Pronounced tannins with again vibrant red currant, ripe fleshy cherries and plums. A lot of grip and character. Good length. Well aimed racy wine from the domestic varieties Stanushina and Prokupec. Ambitious and a real buzz.

Vranec 2005
Solid deep dark inky wine with purple edges. An opulent generous round nose of gorgeous sweet dark spicy forrest fruits. Strawberries and succulent blackberries. Sweet juicy super ripe jammy blackberry chocolaty driven taste. Some tobacco and luscious plums. Assertive acidity and pronounced tannins. Powerful rich wine that needs oak. Great harmony and in this price range a huge enjoyment.

Vranec 2006
Like his older brother. Again enough succulent fruit to numb your tonsils. Although more expressive tannins and quite some acidity. This full bodied wine has not been bottled yet. It happily will go on barrique first. What good wine is al about. Kudos Mr Donov

Pal & Kris

Pauline 2005
This organic made Smederevka wine, named after Mr Delovs’ eldest daughter, shines light lemony golden coloured in my glass. After swirling a distinguished attractive fine Manzanilla nose of hay, roasted walnuts, dry wheat’s and gentle hints of beeswax. Round and creamy with underlying freshness on the palate. Liquorish floral taste of dried apricots. Mixed nuts and dry wheat’s. Softly structured, distinctive and intriguing. At its best now.

Chardonnay 2005
Medium yellowish golden coloured Chardonnay. Boosting intense recognisable Chardonnay perfume. Lively soft citrus tones. Packed with abundant exotic white fruit and white flower aromas.  In the mouth surprisingly dry buttery flavours of sappy ripe peach, jammy apricots, bananas and discrete pineapple. Marvellous acidity and seductively spiced. Reflecting the generosity of its maker. Super Dobro.

Kristine 2004
Cabernet & Vranec. Not tasted

EROS

Zilavka 2006
Classical bright straw yellow, olive greenish coloured wine. Voluptuous perfumed. Unwrapping very raisined nose of ripe fleshy peaches, dried dates and golden marmalade Muscat.  Oozing dry silky flavours of lush green apple and restrained citrus. Some well balanced grassy acidity in the middle.  Expressive aperitif fruit wine that must be nicely cooled before serving. Drink now.

Vranec 2004
Wow…Dark as an Arabian night. Almost black wine that while swirling, colours the glass with deep dark purple tears. Pronounced sweet luscious ripe Vranec nose of dark forrest fruits and well noticed alcohol. 14% so it seems. A sumptuous taste of dark juicy cherries, fine orange zest and fleshy black plums. Very discrete oak. Good length. Massive fruit bomb.  A real yum. In this price range….congratulations.

TIKVES Chardonnay Limited Edition 2005

Stylish modern label with a new glass cork on the bottle. My first! In the glass we see a very fresh light golden colored wine with slow running long fatty tears. A delicious creamy nose of vanilla scented honey liquor with a strong presence of propolis and after eight mint. An explosion of luscious ripe apricots, fine zest of oranges and some exotic grapefruit. The aftertaste reveals some spicy nutmeg and vanilla. Exotic !!!

TIKVES Merlot Limited Edition 2004
The same stylish labeled bottle with a traditional cork this time. Merlot! So I expected a dark purple color but in the glass came a brilliant red wine with nice long colored tearing. A nose of soft creamy wooded vanilla. After swirling, the red sweet candy fruits jump out of the glass. In the mouth heaps of crunchy raspberries, fresh blackberries and some sweet cherries. In the quit acidic aftertaste again a lot of vanilla and present tannins.

TIKVES Vranec Limited Edition 2004
The same stylish bottle. Beautiful, unexpected shiny, purple colored wine that sticks to the glass. Powerful boosting nose of crispy dark wild forest fruits. On the palate it surprisingly reminds me rather the fresh fruit bomb merlot then the usual stunning darker sweet Vranec fruit. Yet powerful and promising with noticeable alcohol, soft vanilla caramel wood and grippy tannins.

TIKVES Cabernet Sauvignon Limited Edition 2004
Same bottle, same label, different wine. Again brilliant young purple red colour. Luscious sweet nose of voluptuous raspberry cassis like fruit. Alcohol and some clear present vanilla. An accessible taste of soft woody vanilla, caramel and lush cassis dark cherry fruit with a slight delicate hint of liquorish green paprika. Reasonably strong tannins at the end.

Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 Barrique

Dark purple red thick wine with heavy tears on the glass. Brilliant shiny colour. Sweet lush liquorish nose of pronounced black fruit intensity. Crunchy black currant and black berries on the palate with a hint of pencil led and spicy green peppers in the middle. A wonderful powerful aftertaste of sweet creamy vanilla, caramel, a touch of butter and soft tannins. A beautiful sumptuous made wine with great potential. Stunning performance in this price range.

Merlot 2004 Limited

Dark as night. Stunning concentrated black purple rimmed wine that sticks to the glass. Young syrup like wine with purple coloured tears even heavier than the cabernet. A very sweet jammy nose of dark forest fruits. A boosting gorgeous taste of ripe creamy raspberries, blueberries and liquorish cherries. The chocolate hinted fruit just keeps on attacking the palate and lingers on. The powerful aftertaste lasts for + 30 seconds. A capitol fruit bomb with soft tannins and good aging potential. Although it is absolutely delicious now. Impressive!
